Virtual Academy

Ellensburg Virtual Academy (EVA) is a home-based fully online program serving students in all grade levels.  We use Edgenuity Instructional Services for our online courses.  Students in grades K-5 are enrolled full-time, and students in grades 6-12 can be enrolled half-time or more. All 6-12 classes are asynchronous (no set times) and require approximately 5 hours per week per class to stay on track.  State rules for online learning require that students participate in their online classes weekly - this serves as "attendance" for our program.

We have an online mentor, who helps keep track of participation and progress in courses. Our mentor can help with communication with online teachers and will give positive feedback when students do great work!  Every Monday morning we run reports on how much time was spent in classes over the past week and check on class grades.  We also send out monthly progress reports.  Students are required to be passing all or 5/6 classes to be making satisfactory progress.  If students are not meeting this expectation we will place them on an intervention plan to try to help them be more successful in their online classes.  If students are marked unsatisfactory for more than 2 months, they will not be allowed to take online classes the following semester.

In order to be successful in online classes, students need to be fairly self-motivated and families need to commit to monitoring progress in the online classes regularly.  If you are interested in our online program, contact Lynn Leslie at 509.925.8182 to schedule a time for a phone, zoom, or in-person meeting.
